Banks Family Hunt

Bought lunch to take away and had a picnic in Dreghorn Cemetery under a tree on another pleasant day (who said Great Britain has lousy weather?). Looking for: (according to cousin Holly Carter), the following 3 buried in this cemetery: 1-John McKillop Banks b. 1844, d. 1891 at age 47 in Springhill pit #4 mine (mining accident). John was the youngest brother of our 2nd great grandmother, Mary (Banks) McFarlane. Also searching for 2-Charles Banks and wife 3-Jeanie Rankin Banks; Charles b.1875, Jeanie b.1872. We found the location of (what the caretaker says) is the location of John McKillop Banks (Section C lair 161) with no stone.

Carolyn unexpectedly found grave with stone of John Banks and his wife Martha McEwan Banks who had lived at 18 Annandale View Crosshouse at section L lair 240. This stone was located where we expected to find the stone of his mother and father Charles and Jeanie Rankin Banks. Empty spaces next to this stone may be where the others are buried.
John Banks died 28 Aug, 1961, age 62 and Martha McEwan Banks died 29 May, 1976 age 73.

Also Linda unexpectedly found the gravestone of Charles Banks, brother of Mary Banks. He died March 2, 1884, age 58 and his wife Agnes Hunter who died July 10, 1899, age 71 and also their son, another Charles Banks, accidentally killed Sept 21, 1860 age 12 years and their daughter Mary who died July 14, 1876 age 9 years. Another son Robert Hunter Banks died Dec 27, 1938 age 54. Beloved husband of Eleanora Mair. Also Alexander Mair, son of Robert Hunter Banks killed in action 20 Sept. 1917 age 22 and their daughter Margaret Banks died 26 Sept 1943, age 75. "Interred East Steen cemetery London. The beloved Eleanora Mair died 8 Sept 1948 aged 93 years (wife of Robert Hunter Banks". Also their daughter Agnes died 17th October 1963 age 81 years.
Carolyn thinks that Robert Hunter Banks signed the death certificate of John McKillop Banks b/c the death cert. Says "informant Robert Banks, nephew".

Linda found the grave of Alexander Banks died 16 March 1923 aged 71 and his wife Sarah Irvine d. 27 Jan 1913? Age 52.

Chere found Charles Banks d. 4th Sept 1962 age 50 beloved husband of Martha Hill d. 18 Sept 1980 age 68 yrs. Don't know how they're linked but will look up later.

Linda also found Thomas Gaw, died 27 Jan 1990 age 51 yrs. Beloved husband of Mary Banks. Mary is probably still living.
